The course is divided into three distinct phases, each lasting three weeks, with the goal of building proficiency and confidence step-by-step.
Weeks | Focus | Guitar/Music Skills Taught | Magic/Performance Skills Taught |
1–3 | Foundations | Basics: Proper holding technique, tuning the guitar, finger placement, learning the first 3-4 essential chords (like C, G, D, Am), and simple strumming patterns. | The Essentials: Palming and basic misdirection techniques, presentation and patter (what to say!), and mastering 2-3 simple, impactful coin or card tricks. |
4–6 | Application | Rhythm & Songs: Combining learned chords into basic, recognizable songs. Introduction to reading simple tablature (tab) and understanding rhythm. Focus on smooth, consistent chord changes. | Routine Building: Learning a key Sleight of Hand technique (like the Double Lift or a basic vanish). 7–9 | Performance & Review | Performance Ready: Polishing 1–2 full songs they can play confidently. Review of all chords and techniques. Final Prep for the end-of-course showcase. | The Show Stopper: Learning one slightly more complex, self-working trick that allows them to shine. Focus on audience management and handling common mistakes smoothly. Final Prep for the end-of-course showcase. |
Key Takeaways & Value for Your Child
As a parent, you're investing in more than just lessons; you're investing in development. Here's what your child will gain:
-
Confidence & Stage Presence: Both disciplines require performing in front of others. By Week 9, your child will have gained comfort in expressing themselves, whether through music or illusion, a skill that translates to school presentations and social settings.
-
Hand-Eye Coordination: Guitar playing is an incredible workout for fine motor skills. Learning magic further sharpens dexterity and hand-eye synchronization.
-
Creative Discipline: They will learn the patience required to practice (discipline) and the creative joy of adapting a trick or a song to make it their own (creativity).
-
A Tangible Achievement: The course culminates in an optional, informal Showcase where they perform the song and magic routine they've mastered. This provides a clear, motivating goal and a wonderful sense of accomplishment.
This 9-week structure is designed to be engaging enough to keep them motivated while being rigorous enough to ensure they walk away with genuinely useful, impressive skills.
